For your reassurance, California Express maintains all Insurance Documentation at the highest level to protect all parties involved. Every moving service is covered by Cargo Insurance, Workers Compensation Insurance, General Liability, PL PD, BIPD, Limited Liability, Basic Coverage, etc.

California Express is a licensed and insured moving company based in California with an active moving permit issued by the Service Division of Household Mover and Bureau of Household Goods. We also regulated by the Department of Consumer Affairs and the California Public Utility Commission. All moving trucks are 365 days monitored by California Highway Patrol and US Department of Transportation.

At California Express, we recognize that people like knowing the moving cost upfront since it helps for budgeting. We provide both options for all local and long-distance moves:

a) Affordable all-inclusive hourly rates for local moves:

Pros: pay for the actual time, more accessible and quicker to set up an appointment; the way to minimize moving costs is to be pre-packed, to arrange close parking space for the moving truck, to reserve an elevator, etc. It is the most popular option on the market for local relocations.
Cons: time duration is subjective - there's a chance you're over or underestimating move time duration; moving companies can apply additional charges for the packing supplies, travel distance, extra heavy items, stairs, long walks. The likelihood of damages and injuries are correlated when preparation is too rushed, and movers are running to perform the move quicker been panicked by the customer trying to save time.

b) Flat rate based on complete details:
Pros: one move - one price, upfront cost; no worries about any additional fees, movers aren't rushing - lees chances for the damages and injuries. Overall, more satisfying moving experience. By the way, it is easy to submit all moving details on your account page (created automatically as soon as a moving quote has been requested).
Cons: often, a flat-rate move is priced higher than hourly moving; requires entire inventory and all associated moving details: elevator, stairs, walking distance, packing services. For your convenience, one of our dispatchers will be happy to perform a 5-15 minute visual examination to provide you with solid calculations (Zoom, FaceTime, Google Meet).
The advantage of the flat rate is there are no surprises. The benefit of the hourly rates is they could be lower than the flat rate but also higher. It is truly tricky to be confident about every moving project because moving is not an exact science. That is why we try to give our customers as many tools and options as it is possible. We will move you quickly, safely, and efficiently as possible, and we are entirely open regarding which pricing framework you prefer.

The sooner, the better. There is nothing to lose in a temporary reservation. Even if your move date is unknown or in escrow, we are glad to pencil in your reservation on our calendar. It will remove the worry of securing your most preferred slot. You can reschedule at any time, as long as your new preferred date is available. Some days are much busier than others – especially weekends, mid-month, and month-end moving dates. Those peak periods like summer tend to become fully booked around 2-3 weeks ahead, so it’s best to book early. Even if you eventually choose a different moving company, our free move guidance provides beneficial information to use when shopping around with other companies.

When budget and time are your priorities, packing small miscellaneous items by yourself is recommended to bring your moving costs for a local move as low as possible.

However, suppose convenience is your main priority. In that case, our movers will be glad to assist with a full packing service, and our trucks will be stocked with all necessary packing supplies. We will pack all smaller items like the kitchen inventory, artwork, books, toys, personal items, etc.

Are your movers checked, insured, and experienced enough?
Every employee is insured, background-checked, and experienced. We never hire day laborers. It is vital to hire a moving company with workers' compensation insurance. Any mover that is injured on the job while moving your items will turn to the workers' compensation insurance policy to pay for medical costs and lost wages instead of going after you. In this way, our customers can be sure they are served and protected legally.

Should I arrange a parking for the moving truck?
As the tenant of a property, the customer has more control over available parking for the moving truck than anyone else. The moving crew can only work with what they see on arrival. Reserving a dedicated space for your truck as close as possible to the main entrance usually represents a significant saving in time and cost. Additionally, we strongly recommend checking with your building management and HOA if any other fines or unforeseen difficulties might be associated with truck parking.

Do you provide assembly services for my furniture?
Each of our moving trucks includes a set of essential tools for assembling/disassembling office desks, dining tables, beds, and dresser mirrors. Our movers are happy to assist with regular assembly service. Please note that we provide assembly services as a courtesy. Movers are not specially trained for high-level assembly services and might not offer this service for some specific items. If you have any concerns regarding a particular furniture item, please let us know.

Do you disconnect and reconnect appliances and mount/unmount TVs?
In line with industry regulations and also our Worker's Compensation requirements, moving crews must refrain from disconnecting/connecting household appliances for health & safety reasons - a qualified technician is advised to disconnect washers, dryers, and cookers in advance of the move. In the case of wall-mounted TVs, we are happy to assist with removal at the pick-up address. At the destination address, crews are not permitted to drill walls for any purpose in case hidden electrical wires are present. Again, a qualified technician, electrician, plumber, or handyman is suggested for all these specialized tasks.

What cannot be moved?

Pets are bound both by moving regulations and insurance rules. We would not relocate hazardous materials such as fuels, corrosives, poisons, and flammables, also perishables such as frozen foods. To protect the health and safety of all our customers, we will also refuse to move anything we consider to be unsafe and unsanitary. Items of extraordinary weight like pianos, pool tables, jacuzzis, aquariums, or safes suggest hiring a heavy-lifting moving company that typically uses specialist hydraulic equipment. As we mainly use a raw workforce, our weight limitations are limited to 250-350 pounds which are generally associated with standard household items. All non-allowable items are prohibited by law.
